Elderly people on Sint Maarten indicated that they experience loneliness because of limited visits from family or friends. Thanks to the Adopt A Grandparent Experience (AGE) project students consistently visit. They chat, play games and engage in various activities. The young volunteers also help with shopping, chores and assist the elderly in the use of technology so they stay in touch with loved ones who may be living and working abroad.

Appreciation
The young people in return gain more appreciation for their own culture and history through the stories told by the elderly. Through the interaction and several weekly visits a bond is naturally created. In addition, Hearts United Holistic Care Foundation organizes activities in which the elderly and the students can participate. See this initiative as a great idea?
